Positions Status Descriptions and Requirements
Manufacturing Center Support Staff Open Manufacturing Center Support Staff are engineering students who help oversee the ITLL Manufacturing Center activities, within the hours of 9:00am - 7:00pm, assisting students with manufacturing and machining projects, conducting workshops, and ensuring the shop maintains a standard of excellence and safety. Student Staff are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and be excellent role models for other engineering students.

Salary: Starting at $16.00/hour, 10 hours/week. Up to $18.00/hour with a $0.25/hour raise for each Fall, Spring, and Summer semester worked.

Student IT Systems Administrator Closed The Integrated Teaching and Learning Program is looking for Student IT Systems Administrators to help in the daily operations and support of our technical enterprise. In addition to the ITL Program, the IT team supports the Idea Forge, Aerospace Engineering, and several other departments and programs across the college.

Starting pay is $16.00/hour and can be applied to at any time, although hiring is typically done at the start of each semester. This position is expected to work 10 hours per week while classes are in session; however, the hours are flexible. We prefer students who have the availability to continue employment as long as they are a CU student. First-year and sophomore students of diverse backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply. Student Software Engineer Open The Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITLP) IT team is looking for students to help develop software to support a wide range of services, spanning the ITLP, the Idea Forge, Integrated Design Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and TeachEngineering.org. We support up to 11k local users and up to 4 Million users globally through a wide-range of technologies. We offer practical experience supporting the IT needs of a live/production environment. In addition to hands-on training and support, you will work alongside full-time software developers, systems administrators, and other fellow CU student developers. Our goal is to provide an innovative and stable IT ecosystem that empowers hands-on engineering-focused education across the College of Engineering. TE Video Production and Social Media Open The TeachEngineering Video Production team and Social Media team is a small group of students who produce, or promote on social media, educational videos that demonstrate how to perform hands-on STEM activities (with a focus on engineering) for K-12 teachers. These videos provide step-by-step design solutions to engineering challenges by problem solving and cycling through the design process.

Successful team members must be independently-driven, creative, innovative, and hard-working. This position is expected to work 10 hours a week during the semester with potential to extend work into the summer. The ideal candidate has some experience filming and using editing software (we use Adobe Premiere), but training will be provided.

Salary: Starting at $16.00/hour, 10 hours/week. Up to $18.00/hour with a $0.25/hour raise for each Fall, Spring, and Summer semester worked.

Engineering Support Open The Engineering Support Students work in a customer service and technical support role, providing friendly, enthusiastic and efficient help to engineering students, faculty and staff in the Integrated Teaching and Learning Laboratory (ITLL). Engineering Support Students are undergraduate engineering students who help oversee the ITLL, assisting students with projects, conducting workshops, supporting experimental modules, and ensuring the building maintains a standard of excellence and security. ITLP Front Office Assistant Open The ITLP Front Office Assistant works closely with the Administrative Assistant during the Spring 2023 semester. This is a customer-service and administrative support role that will provide friendly and highly detailed assistance to students, faculty, staff and visitors in-person and over the phone while covering the front desk in the office of the ITLP director. This role will independently cover the front desk during the lunch hour and during times the Administrative Assistant has meetings. This position may offer the opportunity to support the ITLP Graphic Designer, interest in this area is a plus. The Front Office Assistant is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and uphold a helpful, proactive, service-oriented culture while maintaining a high level of communication, both oral and written. Undergraduate Engineering CAs for Projects Courses Open The Integrated Design Engineering (IDEN) Program seeks exceptional engineering students to serve as Projects Course Assistants (CAs) for GEEN 1400: First-Year Engineering Projects, GEEN 2400: Projects for the Community, and GEEN 3400: Invention and Innovation.

The First-Year Engineering Projects Course Assistants (CAs) support all sections of GEEN 1400: First-Year Engineering Projects. CAs assist with all aspects of the course, and generally provide guidance for students adjusting to college and studying engineering.
GEEN 2400 and GEEN 3400 Course Assistants (CAs) support sections of GEEN 2400: Projects for the Community and GEEN 3400: Invention and Innovation. These CAs may also assist with GEEN 1400 section when applicable. CAs assist with all aspects of the course, and generally provide guidance and resources for students.

All projects CAs work directly with student teams, provide expertise on design solutions and creating what they design, and direct students towards available resources. Projects CAs may help with grading presentations, reports and other assignments, and they will directly assist students with online resources and in various fabrication facilities in the ITLL (manufacturing center, electronics center, 3D printing, etc.).

Salary: Typically $17.00/hour, ~8 hours/week

Pre-College Engineering Education Program Support Student Open Remember who inspired you to pursue an engineering future? Want to excite the next generation of K-12 students to explore engineering?

Become a Pre-College Engineering Education Program Support Student with the Integrated Teaching and Learning Program (ITLP) to guide weekly after school Pre-College engineering design activities with elementary and secondary students in Lafayette, Longmont, and Boulder, Colorado.

The ITLP Pre-College Engineering Education program engages local students, with a focus on youth from underrepresented groups, in building up their pathways and interests in engineering. In return, you will gain valuable education and outreach experience while giving back to surrounding communities (plus, it’s a lot of fun!).

What do Pre-College Engineering Education Support Students do? Throughout the semester, Pre-College Support Students work in pairs to co-lead one after school Pre-College Program (Monday-Thursday), and are available for two hours between 2:30pm-5pm (consisting of 30 min. travel time to and from their school site, and 60 min. of program time with their student group).  Also, Pre-College Support Students participate in a weekly team meeting to prepare for the upcoming week’s activities, and debrief on the previous week’s experience.

What are Pre-College Support Student expectations?

  • Reliability in honoring program commitments (the students are counting on their Pre-College Program Support Students!)
  • Pass a required background check
  • Be Earn-Learn eligible (enrolled in the College of Engineering & Applied Science, 2.0+ undergraduate or 2.7+ graduate GPA). Work-study eligible students are encouraged to apply.
